“ This place is fantastic!!!! My husband and I have been traveling, and this is by far the best meal we’ve had! There is a reason the wings are award winning, and the sandwiches are amazing. We ordered the bada boom and the Al’s hooter sandwich. Both absolutely fantastic. The bartender was awesome as well. The beer selection is great too, and we loved ‘have a nice day damnit’ IPA. You must try this place!!! ”

“ As we were headed through Altoona during dinner time, we decided to find a place to stop and eat. We made a great choice with Al’s Tavern. The wood panel walls and framed vintage posters give it a retro vibe. The food was really good. We split a Baked Ham and Cheese sub and a large order of fried. I didn’t love all of the lettuce and dressing on the sandwich but it was good enough that I would order it again. We appreciated that all of the wait staff shared responsibility for taking care of us, making sure our drinks were filled and we were happy. We are planning to stop again next time we are in the area. ”

“ We are from Canada and go to Buffalo for wings at the Anchor Bar where apparently the “wing” was invented. Al’s Tavern blew away the Anchor Bar. Service was fantastic. Staff were friendly portions were huge. A shout out to Al’s Daughter-in-law, you’re the best! How did you get the beers so cold? We will definitely be back!!! ”

You don’t just have one server... they all come to your table and they’re very attentive. The food was good and the portions are huge. Prices are also good. Check it out! ”

“ Vintage tavern, blast from the past circa 1962. Lots of draft beer selections, the garlic wings are phenomenal but you have to get 12 and I was by myself. I took six home. The bar area is separate from the family dining area which is great if you have younger people with you. ”

“ I had a great lunch! The chili dogs and gravy fries were OUTSTANDING My server was great and keep the unsweetened iced tea and coffee full. My lunch was under 15 before tip and I didn’t leave hungry! ”
